 Qigong for Health and Wellbeing

New Class in Qigong Saturdays 11-12 AM

Have you been looking for a less strenuous form of exercise? Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice of gentle, uplifting movements that powerfully promote healing increasing and balancing internal energy flow and the releasing energy blockages. Research has also shown that qigong can improve mood, ease pain, and contribute to improve muscle strength, energy level, and balance.[1]

Although beneficial and nourishing for all participants, this class is intended, in particular, for those suffering from minor to serious illness or recovering from injury or surgery. In a relaxed, informal and caring atmosphere, Sifu Roger Blough, the director of Qi Elements, will teach gentle and non-invasive movements, designed with particular attention and encouragement for each individual to work only at his/her own level of health, flexibility and stamina. Sifu Blough has studied and practiced Qigong for 15 years and is certified as an instructor of Qigong by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming, a world-renown expert.

The purpose of the exercises will be to gently coax your body to stretch and breathe properly, while doing only as much or as little as feels right at any time with rest or breaks whenever needed. The exercises will be designed to be done sitting, although some can be done standing if you prefer. Chairs will be available at all times as well as mats if you’d prefer to do lying Qigong meditation during the class. If at any time you feel you don’t have the strength to move, you can just visualize the movements. So if you have been discouraged about your situation, wanting some mild exercise and wanting to do something positive to improve your health and well being, this is the class for you. Get off the couch and come join us. However, as always, you should consult with your doctor before beginning a new exercise program. Please call or email Qi Elements if you wish to register for the class or obtain more information. 703 435-4400, qielements@verizon.net.
