Description: Yoga Exploration
Yoga Exploration will be taught with an emphasis on relaxation and increasing flexibility by exploring Yoga with the addition of Qigong practice. Modifications are available for physical considerations. The goal is to relax, have fun, and increase and maintain health through breathing and the gentle movements of Yoga.
For current yoga practitioners, experience an expansion that the incorporation of Qigong allows. For current practitioners of other forms of movement, realize the compliment and increased flexibility that yoga moves provide. For movement-challenged individuals, Yoga can provide pain relief, relax stiff muscles, and ease sore joints. Yoga with it’s controlled movements, pressures, stretches, and deep breathing relaxation, is also an excellent range-of-motion exercise. Please go to this link to register.http://www.peaceabledragon.org/author/kris-brinker/Please register in advance by email. Description: Taiji (Tai Chi) Shen Gong Exploration
An original form of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan),Taiji Shen Gong is a system of qigong composed of three sections; Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. It was developed in the Yuan dynasty by Master Yuan Zhong. Since it’s function is to improve health and longevity insted of fighting, this original Tai Chi is not a marial art, it is instead Qigong. It is therefore not named Tai Chi Chuan, but rather Tai Chi Shen Gong. A beautiful and strong form, it is easily learned and fun to practice. The movements of Taiji Shen Gong have a special flavor and rhythm. Movements are sometimes fast and sometimes slow.
For health maintenance and relaxation, the Qigong practitioner does not have to be an expert. Anyone can learn to practice Qigong to maintain and improve his or her own health.
The word Qigong (also spelled Chi Kung, and pronounced “chee-gung”) is a combination of two ideas: “Qi” means air, breath of life, or vital energy of the body, and “gong” means to cultivate, to gather, or to work. Qigong is therefore the action of working, cultivating of, or gathering life/vital force. The art of Qigong consists primarily of physical movement, relaxation, breathing exercises, mind-body integration, and meditation.
